The Belgian programme for environmental monitoring of offshore wind farms - WinMon.BE - started in 2008. It aims to evaluate the extent of the impact of offshore wind farms on the marine ecosystem and to identify the processes behind these environmental effects. On Tuesday 18 May (9:00-12:00), the WinMon.BE consortium is organising an online event to share the results of this monitoring programme. A closing panel discussion will focus on the nexus science-management-policy as the best way to achieve environmentally sound implementation and ecosystem-based management of offshore renewable energy.
This online WinMon.BE-symposium is a side-event of this year’s 52nd Liège Colloquium on Ocean Dynamics (17-21 May), which focuses on understanding human impact on coastal ecosystems. The side-event is free of charge and aimed at scientists, industry, managers and policy makers. Registration for the online event is possible until 12 May.
