On the initiative of North Sea Minister Philippe De Backer and Minister for Energy, Environment and Sustainable Development Marie Christine Marghem, the Belgian government is organising an international high-level conference on climate change and the preservation of our oceans. With this event, the Belgian government wants to stimulate an increased commitment to one of the biggest challenges of this century, namely the impact of global warming on the oceans. This one-day event brings together high-level personalities, ministers from all over the world and members of international organisations to discuss current issues such as climate change and its impact on ocean biodiversity and how to link energy production to marine nature conservation.
In addition to taking stock of current issues, countries, sectors and organisations will sign the Brussels Declaration and thereby reaffirm their commitment to future generations.
The conference will take place in the Egmont Palace, Brussels, on Tuesday 19 February 2019 (9am-18pm). Registration is mandatory and is possible until 30 January 2019 via the following link.
