Close-up of oral side of arachnoid echinoids: Parallel rows of tubercles carrying spines, and pore-pairs set with tube feet are arranged like the teeth of a comb. These fields are called "combed areas". On the oral side the combed areas alternate with plain fields, set with larger tubercles and spines for locomotion. Arrows indicate direction of food transport.
