De unité de Protéomique et Microbiologie behoort tot het Institut de recherche en Biosciences en verricht genetische en metabolische analyses op verschillende types organismen. Dit omvat o.a. moleculaire studies, proteomische karakterisaties, functionele analyse, etc.
In het mariene domein bestudeert de groep onderwerpen zoals:
- de identificatie en kwantificatie van gecarbonyleerde eiwitten in de UVB-resistente mariene bacterie Photobacterium angustum S14;
- de linken tussen bacteriële gemeenschappen in mariene sedimenten en de geochemie van sporenmetalen;
- de karakterisatie van de koolhydratenfractie van het tijdelijke adhesief dat uitgescheiden wordt door de zeester Asterias rubens;
- LAS afbreekbaarheid van mariene biofilms van het zeewater in Spanje en Zweden;
- metaproteogenomische inzichten in gecontamineerde microbiële gemeenschappen in mariene en zoetwateromgevingen;
- de efflux van metalen uit vervuilde mariene sedimenten als gevolg van de bacteriële remineralisatie van fytodetritus.
