Save the date - 10th edition of the Flemish Aquaculture Symposium

In its 10th edition of the Flemish Aquaculture Symposium, the Flemish Aquaculture Platform (VAP) takes a look at the sustainability of the sector.

Not only does Europe steer the industry towards 'greening' with the Green Deal, but consumers are also becoming more environmentally aware in their food purchases. In aquaculture, the use of water, energy, food, ... has an impact on the environment. How can you reduce this impact? Can you measure sustainability? What is the economic value? Can you perform better through cooperation? These and other questions will be discussed at the symposium. Professor Grant Stentiford, aquatic food production specialist at CEFAS (Centre for Environment, Fisheries, and Aquaculture Science) is the keynote speaker. He will address the question whether it is possible to produce more with less harm or risk to humans and the environment. In addition, five local speakers will inspire about sustainability in aquaculture.

This year, the organisation is in the hands of The Blue Cluster and VLIZ. The symposium is organised with the support of the European Fund for Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (EFMZV) and the Financial Instrument for the Flemish Fisheries and Aquaculture Sector (FIVA).
