Abstract
Radiographic plates with high wave length X rays (uptill 4,5 Å) and long exposure time (1/2 to 1 second) have been used to observe the amplitude and the direction of bones displacements in the head of Tilapia rendalli during respiration. A previous functional interpretation of the respiratory cephalic mechanism for T. guineensis carried out by Vandewalle (1972) on mere anatomical basis has received confirmation.
