Beschrijving

The NICE project use acoustic telemetry to investigate the behaviour, fjord habitat utilization, and ecophysiology of native Arctic charr, colonizing Atlantic salmon, and invasive pink salmon in Isfjorden. Collaborating closely with local fishers from the Longyearbyen hunting and fishing organization (LJFF) and the Governor of Svalbard—who oversees fisheries management—NICE aims to advance scientific understanding and support Arctic communities in adapting to accelerating climate impacts.
