During several nocturnal excursions in the spring of 2021 on the Belgian beaches of Koksijde and Nieuwpoort the author observed the presence of three luminescent organisms. On February 14 he witnessed the bioluminescence of Noctiluca. This beautiful event is usually seen during warmer days in summer, but it can apparently also occur oncold days in winter and spring. On April 7 he collected 8 individuals of Northern krill Meganyctiphanes norvegica. This was the second record for Belgium of this species normally occurring in northern Atlantic waters and rarely seen in the southern North Sea. It's presence was probably due to the continued strong northerly winds of the past fewdays. Finally, in May he observed the lightning of Beroe gracilis, a common species in the spring plankton.
