Abstract
Solute transport is of concern in many hydrogeological and environmental issues. Development of tests that aim to derive parameters that determine solute transport is therefore an important step. Sensitivity analyses provide a very useful tool to deduce which parameters can be derived with a certain test and what their reliability is. This is illustrated with a forced-gradient tracer test and a new three-dimensional density dependent solute transport model. Using the sensitivity analyses it is further shown that the use of both drawdown and concentration measurements enhances the reliability of the derived solute transport and hydraulic parameters.
