Description
The main objective of our project was to obtain the data on the development of primary body plan in Pelagia noctiluca. more
According to the main objective of Assemble Plus project we created a timetable of embryonic development and metamorphosis of Pelagia. We also characterized some features of Pelagia axial patterning. To obtain these data, we used the methods of microsurgical manipulations as well as pharmacological intervention into the functioning of signaling pathways. The canonical Wnt-pathway plays the major role in the axis formation of cnidarians having 'typical' life cycle (Duffy et al., 2010; Momose, Houliston, 2007; Momose et al. 2008). We obtained a set of preliminary data on the role of this signaling cascade in Pelagia development using the pharmacological approach.
