Description
The data contains benthic fluxes and sediment properties from the normally anoxic Eastern Gotland Basin in Baltic Sea, following an inflow of oxygenated water (a major Baltic inflow). more
Three sites were visited in April 2016, 2017 and 2018. During each visit, sediment cores were collected for analysis of dissolved inorganic phosphorus (DIP) in the pore water and benthic fluxes of DIP, dissolved inorganic nitrogen (DIN), dissolved inorganic silica (DSi) and dissolved inorganic carbon (DIC) were measured using benthic chamber landers. In 2016 and 2017, duplicate sediment cores were collected for sequential phosphorus extraction. In 2017 and 2018, sediment samples were collected for analysis of chlorophyll a content. The dataset further contains previously published data of benthic fluxes, pore-water DIP and chlorophyll a from 2008, 2010 and 2015 (Viktorsson et al. 2013, https://doi.org/10.5194/bg-10-3901-2013; Hall et al. 2017, https://doi.org/10.3389/fmars.2017.00027; Nilsson et al. 2019; https://doi.org/10.1016/j.marchem.2018.11.004.
