Additional info
Sammy has been a WoRMS taxonomic editor since 2010, initially focussing on caridean shrimps, but in recent years editing across all decapod crustaceans, with around 50,000 taxa edited to date. Asides from taxonomy of caridean shrimps with over 200 publications to date, a strong interest is in large scale compilations of bioinformatics, having led the compilation of an all decapod genera (recent + fossil) list in 2008, a complete listing of shrimp taxa in 2011 (with C. Fransen), a revised classification of crayfish in 2017 (with K. Crandall), as well as the global Red List assessment of freshwater shrimps in 2015 and the soon to appear DecaNet, a GSD for decapods within WoRMS. If elected, a particular focus in the SC would be on mapping species using MEOW regions, as well as further developing the traits information across taxa.
