Abstract
With the methods used in this study silicoflagellates, on the species level, proved to be useful to a limited extent to recognize small scale temperature fluctuations in an oceanic environment. Dictyocha acuelata in some cases showed an optimum in an oceanic environment. Dictyocha perlaevis perlaevis was found to be useful in the Quaternary stratigraphy of the southeastern tropical Atlantic Ocean, defining the interval from 25.000 yBP to 140.000 yBP by high relative abundances.
