A freshly dead Bonito Sarda sarda (Bloch, 1793) found on the beach at Blankenberge (Belgium) after a severe storm on 24 January 1986 is believed to be a genuine vagrant. The species is very rare in the southern North Sea. The only former record in the area is one of a specimen caught in 1878 in the Eastern Scheldt (The Netherlands).
