Possible resting cysts of D. Pseudolunula , a dinoflagellate parasitic on copepod eggs, have been observed regularly in samples taken by the Continuous Plankton Recorder. They are widely distributed in the plankton of the eastern North Atlantic and North Sea with a peak in numbers in August and September.
